Urgent Power of the Paw Needed!

This little lady is named Skittles.

She's very, very sick and needs a whole lotta help! The V-E-T tells us that she's loaded with worms, anemic to the point of being blue, and only weighs a little over a pound. The folks at LBR are getting her the care she needs, so it's all up to the docs and her right now. I hope she's a fighter. I want a chance to play with you someday, Skittles!

This brave guy is LBR foster Marco. He and his foster momma rushed right to the V-E-T when they heard Baby Skittles needed a blood donor. It seems to be working -- Skittles's temperature is back up to normal! Roundworms are just pouring out of her by the hundreds, though. Yuck yuck yuck. If anyone can get her through this, it's LBR. Way to help, Marco, and keep fighting, Skittles!!!

Storytime!

Gather round, pups and cats, and Uncle Casey will tell you a story!  You know I love to tell you folks all about the PAWSOME boxers that have found their homes through Legacy Boxer Rescue. Well, today I'm going to tell you about a very unique boxer.  His name is Mister Magoo.

I know what you're all thinking -- oh my, what an incredibly handsome boxer he is! And you're right, he's extremely handsome. Just look at those great boxer jowlies, and the cute little boxer ears, and not to mention that boxer tongue! I'll admit his coloring is a teeny bit unusual for a boxer.  But look, he's even got a cute little boxer nubbie!

Okay, okay, you got me! Magoo isn't exactly what you'd call a traditional boxer. But he still found his home through LBR! That's the fun part of the story, so settle in now.

 

Once upon a time, there was a cute little schnauzer puppy living in a pet store. (Psst, that's Magoo! I hope I didn't give anything away.) Anyway, there was something wrong with him. He fell down a lot and kept running into things. My mom just think it's funny when I run into something, but the pet store thought he was blind. And they were planning to return him to the puppy mill he came from. That means he would've been put to sleep!

Lucky for this cute little puppy, he had a fairy godmother. A nice lady who worked at the store just happened to have a sister, who just happened to be none other than Auntie Sharon, LBR's founder, president, and beloved Pack Leader! The nice lady talked to her sister and mentioned that there was a dog in trouble begged and pleaded for her help, and Auntie Sharon folded like old laundry heroically offered to take him in.

So he came into foster care with LBR, and they named him Magoo after the cartoon character who can't see very well.

But then his foster home realized he could see perfectly after all! How strange. But he shook uncontrollably, fell down a lot, and threw up every morning. His pawsome foster parents took him to all sorts of vets and specialists for months. Finally, a neurologist decided that he had something similar to cerebral palsy in humans. It was a permanent condition, but he wasn't in pain and could still live a long life. And if LBR had anything to say about it, a happy one!

So he stayed in his foster home for a little while and learned how to cope with his condition and how to play with his foster brother and sister. And all the time he was looking for his perfect furever home. And guess what?

 

He found it!! And they all lived happily ever after.

1. Bicontinental Dachshund

Bicontinental Dachshund is about the adventures of Tootsie, a cute little dachshund who divides her time between the US and Switzerland. She goes on the most amazing hikes and adventures, and she shares pawsome pictures of all of them. I just love going to her blog every day and seeing what she's up to now! Here's a pic of Tootsie from one of her recent posts.
 

2. Nora B. Webster

 Nora is also involved in something near and dear to my heart -- dog rescue! She helps her Master and Mrs. Master foster Sibes through a group called Taysia Blue. I love hearing about her foster siblings and everything they're up to, plus all the hard work Nora does snoopervising Master and Mrs. Master's doings. Did you know she helped renovate a whole bathroom?? Wow! Go read Nora today.

3. Tales & Trails

I can't talk about my favorite blogs without mentioning Bunny, Blueberry, Morgan, and Kuster! This pack of two greyhounds and two German Shepherds keep their humans on their toes! They go on wonderful adventures and hikes that I just love reading about, and their mom takes some of the most beautiful doggy pictures I've ever seen. I've learned so much about greyhounds through them, and I think learning something is very important every day of your life!  Plus, I'm kind of jealous of the pawsome backpacks Bunny and Kuster get to wear when they go hiking.

4. Sarge Speaks Out

Sarge is another fun guy to read. He's the official cop of Blogville, so I'm sure you all know him, but did you know he has a blog too? He tells very silly jokes and loves to share smiles. I always leave his blog feeling a little bit happier. Isn't that what life is all about?  Plus, every Monday his two little crab sisters get to take over the blog, and their posts are a hoot!

  
5. Kitty + Coco

I haven't been reading this blog as long as some of the others, but Momma and I couldn't resist the combination of a Boston terrorist (Kitty) and a pug (Coco). We like to call Bostons "mini-boxers" because they have the same personality as boxers, and Momma grew up with some pugs that she loved very much. Anyway, these two spoiled sisters go on lots of fun adventures around the town and always have some pretty pictures and words of advice to share.

Doggies Assemble!

Cinderella and I are so excited about the new Avengers movie coming out! (By the way, Cinderella said to tell everyone that she wanted a Black Widow scarf, but they didn't have any so she settled on a generic Avengers one.) Or at least we were excited until Momma told us that the theater won't allow us in for the midnight release. Discrimination!!!

So I told Momma to put a service dog vest on me and bring me anyway. She told me that would be un-ethy-cal and Captain America wouldn't approve. Siiiiiiiiiiiigh. All right, Cap, I'll be good. I guess Cinderella and I will just curl up with your DVD while Momma goes to the movie. SO not fair. But Momma said she's looking to see if the drive-in is showing Avengers and she'll take us there. Woohoo!
