Laughing with Madi

Hello furiends! Today Blogville is coming together to remember our best feline furiend furever, Madison Diva Cat.

Madi was a pawesome furiend who loved the color red, hats, and boxes, so Pigeon and I are honoring her spirit today!

Because we're supposed to be laughing with Madi, I have a special diva joke to dust off just fur the occasion. Ahem.

How many divas does it take to change a lightbulb?
One. She just holds the bulb and waits for the world to revolve around her.

We take one moment to bow our heads sadly to say goodbye to Madi. The world will not be the same without you!

Love and licks,

Matilda and Pigeon

Evil aliens and unappreciative mommas

I don't understand it. I'm supposed to be a guard dog, right? I protect my momma from all the evils out there, and she rewards me with treats. That's how it's SUPPOSED to work. So how come when I protect her from the evil alien trying to smother her while she sleeps, she gets all upset?!

I don't trust that "Memory Foam" stuff. Obviously it's aliens posing as innocuous pillows and dog beds but secretly plotting to absorb Momma into them while she sleeps. I never touch the REGULAR pillows or dog beds, but I've shredded two of the evil alien pillows AND two evil alien dog beds. It's hard work, but I don't mind.

But sheesh, Momma, a treat wouldn't go amiss, you know??

Did you miss us??

Sorry we were quiet for so long! Momma was gone most of last week at something called a "conference," and I stayed with Auntie again. Momma meant to take a pirate picture of me furst, but she totally furgot. FAIL!!

Oh well, we still got to have a nice weekend together after she got back. On Saturday, Auntie came over plus someone new -- Auntie Niki! Pigeon says she and Auntie Niki go way back, but it was my furst time to meet her. It was so nice seeing my aunties!!

Deciding what I think of this Auntie Niki lady

 Playing bitey with Auntie!

Pigeon says Auntie Niki has the best hands

After they left, we were all exhausted from a long day of hosting. So we just chilled out and enjoyed being together.

So did we miss anything impawtant?

PeeS: OMD, we were gone for so long, I furgot the big news on Pigeon! We got her second test results back, and it turns out she just has an infection!! A very bad UTI, but still an infection and something treatable. We were doing our happy dance here!!

How rude!

Can you believe that Momma not only didn't feed me this morning, she shoved me in my carrier and ABANDONED me at the vet?!

I'm having some follow-up tests to see if we can figure out what's up with my liver. Please keep those paws crossed!

~Pigeon

PeeS: We are all devastated to hear the news of the passing of a legend, Blogville's first feline mayor and good furiend and all of us, Madi Diva Cat. We are sending all the love we can manage to her family.

Pupdate: I'm home, and we're just waiting on test results from the vet. Momma says it'll be a day or two still.

Flashback Flower Friday

Momma just canNOT seem to get her stuff together to get some pictures of me with flowers. Sheesh!! So here are some flashback pictures of Casey and Jessie in front of our memorial garden at our old house. Momma has all of the memorial stones, old and new, waiting in our new garage, and she's hoping to plant our new memorial garden very soon!

Pigeon update

Thank you everyone for your hopes and purrs. The news from the vet isn't great. She says I'm in kidney failure, which I guess means I'm like Jessie? Momma says I don't have to do the camel treatments yet like she did, but we're changing my food -- I hope it's tasty! -- and some other things. But the bloodwork also showed some problems with my liver. Momma said at least I found a new organ -- she's already dealt with kidneys, heart, brain, stomach, intestines, and thyroid. The vet says it could be something simple like an infection or something skeerier like cancer. I'm going to go back in on Monday to have some more tests to see if they can find anything more out.

It's not great news, like I said. But not really unexpected when you reach your senior years like I have. I'll be 17 in January, after all. So Momma and I are snuggling and hoping that the news is as good as possible. The vet thinks I could have another 1-2 years with my kidneys, so really everything now depends on my liver. If you could keep those paws crossed just a little longer!!

This is NOT what I had in mind!

Pigeon here! So ever since the puppy came home, things have been a little kerazy in our house. She's always running everywhere and pouncing on stuff. Including me!! I come out sometimes, because hello, my house! But I spend a lot of time snoozing in one of my beds in my room, where she can't come. But I told Momma that I wanted to spend some special time together, just us. I thought she was listening to me when she came in yesterday, and I didn't even mind getting in my carrier if we were doing something together.

Where are we going? Somewhere super exciting, I'm sure!

But do you know where we went???? THE VET!! Where I got poked and prodded and had stuffs STOLEN right out from inside me. The indignity is too much to bear!

 The face of betrayal

Clearly Mommas are not clever enough to manage things on their own. I will have to be more specific in the future. In the meantime, the vet lady -- who wasn't TOO bad even if she stoles my blood and poop -- thinks I'm having some kidney problems. If you could cross your paws a little while we wait on test results, I'd appreciate it. I've lost a lot of weight, and I'm the same age as Scribbles when he went to the Rainbow Bridge, so Momma's a little concerned.

Oh well. At least we're together.

Worn out

I had such a pawesome weekend. Momma stayed home the whole time, and we just fetched and fetched and fetched and fetched some more! But, uh, I'm kinda glad she's at work today.

Throwback Thursday: Rescue Edition!

On this Throwback Thursday, I want to look back at a few very impawtant stories....

Casey

Cinderella

Jessie

 And Matilda!

We became a family...

Because of another family!

Legacy Boxer Rescue saved all our lives, and so many other Texas boxers! I'm so grateful that we all got our second chances and the bestest furever home that ever was, all because LBR stepped up to help us when we were in shelters or homes that couldn't give us the care we deserve. LBR needs more foster homes to keep helping amazing dogs like US! If you can, please check out more information about fostering for LBR. If you can't, share the information with folks in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area who might want to help! (And, you know, green papers always help give foster dogs food and vet care and stuff!)

Thank you, LBR! <3

What a weekend!

OMD, you guys! I don't know what Momma was up to this weekend, but it can't PAWSIBLY be as fun as sleepover camp at Auntie's!!!

Me and my Auntie. We're besties, yo.

Auntie has bunches of dogs, so I got to plaaaaaaay as much as I wanted to! You heard all about handsome Frankie already. He's the strong silent type. My favorite playmates are Benny, the tall dark & handsome goofball, and Simon, the spotted one who  will run and run and run with me!

For some reason, the two little dogs didn't like me so much. I mean, I tried my best to include them in playtime! I'd play chase and pounce every time I saw them! But I don't think Bebe was persuaded...

That's okay, because Auntie was still there for fetch and tug!

Then it was time for more chase!!

Auntie says I never stopped, but she's a fibber.

See?? I stopped at least TWICE in four and a half days! Isn't that enough??

Still, there was one person I really, really, really missed.

"Don't go 'way again, Momma, okay?"

Auntie's is pawesome, but there's no place like home!
