Living up to our names

This post is dedicated to our furiend Margaret Thatcher at the Army of Four. We know how much you love boxes, especially ones big enough to sit in. Well, you can imagine how excited we were when Santa Paws left us...

THIS!!! Cinderella wasn't too sure about it at furst and kept looking around for the exit.

I assured her that we were in our NATURAL HABITAT, and as BOXERS we were supposed to be completely at home in a grreat big box just for us.

We had SO much fun hanging out in it. And look! There's plenty of room for you to come join us, Maggie!! We'll keep a spot warm for you.

Back to normal

I hope everyone had a GRREAT holiday!! Momma and I are going to try to catch up on all the posties we missed while we were hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa, but no promises! We had a fangtastic Christmas, with lots of pressies and grreat quality time with Momma! Here we are Christmas morning. (That's my cousin Bear lurking in the background. He was sulking because he didn't get a pawesome Christmas outfit like Cinderella and I had.)

We got lots and lots of treats from Santa Paws, and Grandma gave us some pawesome new toys! I got a frog stuffie, and Cinderella got a bunny rabbit!

My aunt Gracie loved the little teddy bear we picked out for her.

Then when we got home, there was mail waiting for me!

It was a prize pressie from the Hat Contest we won back in July! So there's Christmas in July, and sometimes there's July Prizes in December! BOL!

We added the card to our wall, though Momma tried to say it shouldn't count because it was a PRIZE card. But it's all red and green and had a present on the front, it's obviously a Christmas card! Hmph. It's sad when she starts getting so desperate. She got even MORE pity cards from all her whining on Facebook, so she got CLOSE to us.

WE WIN!! Of course. :)

Have yourself a merry little Christmas!

From all of us at Legacy Boxer Rescue, and especially from Momma, me, Cinderella, Scribbles, and Pigeon, we would like to wish you and yours a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

We're going to Grandma's tonight for Christmas, so we won't be on very much fur a while. We'll see you all on BOXER DAY (woohoo!) at Dory's Christmas Gala!

Raising Junior Rescuers!

Some of our pups got to have an early Christmas thanks to the pawesome Junior Rescuers at Mrs. Seymore's 3rd grade class at Rockwall Elementary! These pawesome kiddos decided as a class project that they would learn more about boxers on LBR's website, discuss strategies for helping them get adopted, AND raise money to help LBR! What amazing kiddos!  The end of their project was last week, and they knew an LBR volunteer was coming to accept their check. But they DIDN'T know that we had arranged to have a few of the dogs they'd been following come by in the furs to meet them. Boy, were those kiddos excited!!

I can't show you pics of the kiddos fur privacy reasons, but here's some of our dogs who were presented all sorts of goodies by the kiddos. Osha was very popular, of course, and she got THREE outfits from the excited kiddos.

Murray got a new bed, a whole big bag of food, toys, and a pawesome camo jacket!

And Momma Shyanne is happy to have a bed of her very own! She also got treats and a new coat. What thoughtful kiddos!! PLUS they gave over $600 they'd raised to LBR! If that's the future of rescue, I know all my LBR cousins are in very good paws.

I think this is cheating...

Momma has whined and moaned and complained SO much on Faceybook that people have started sending her PITY CARDS! I don't think that should even count. HMPH.

The count is:
US 25

The CHEAT 16

And 1 card for all of us that we agreed to let Santa watch

The pawfect way to celebrate

Oh boy, furiends, did I have a grreat weekend!! Saturday was a super-duper hugely impawtant day. I'm sure you all had pawties and stuff to celebrate it, because really it's an international holiday, right? It was my GOTCHA DAY!! Yup, on 12-13-08, I came to live with Momma! We can't believe that we've been together for six years -- it seems like yesterday and furever all at once!

Well, such a hugely impawtant day obviously required some big plans. And boy howdy did I have them!

"Come on, Momma, hit the gas!"

Well, it was no time before we arrived at our goal. I got all spiffed up and....

"Ho ho ho!"

That's right, I got to play Santa Casey!! We went to our local animal shelter and delivered a big basket of goodies for them. LBR likes to pay visits on our local shelters and vets every Christmas to thank them all for working with us to save boxers all around the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex, and Momma and I always schedule our visit for 12/13 if we can. What better way of celebrating a Gotcha Day than bringing help to animals still looking for their furever homes?

I hope y'all had a grreat weekend too, even though I KNOW it couldn't have been as pawesome as mine! Santa Casey saying be good, and good night!

Photobomb!

Wanna know something funny? Sometimes stuff shows up in our pictures without us ever noticing. And we may not notice for ages, even years, until someone else points them out. One of our LBR aunties pointed us to a very funny slideshow on Huffington Post about Christmas photobombs. Go ahead, scroll on through. We'll wait. Number 18 is the super funniest, we think.

...

...

BOL!!!! Do you recognize it?!?! This is from Christmas 2012.

Momma would like to make two comments in response to that slideshow:

1. Scribbles would be more than welcome to wear a sweater, but she's afraid that he would kill her in her sleep if she tried.

2. He's more than cute enough to be in the picture, but he won't pose like Cinderella and I do. So photobombing is all he gets, by his own choice!

So what do you think of THAT? We're FAMOUS!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It's starting to look like Christmas here at LBR! You know it's always the little ones that really make you see the magic of Christmas, and LBR has plenty of those to go around this year!! Shyanne's little pups Shawnee and Cherokee are really feeling the Christmas spirit.

And it looks like Santa Paws paid an early visit to our Thanksgiving Pups! A toy for every puppy, plus an extra big snuggly one for Momma Mayflower.

If that doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit, I don't know WHAT will!

Cinderella's big day

My sissy had such an exciting day yesterday! Do you know what she did? Well, here's her all ready to go...

Doesn't she look all festive? Well, yesterday was the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis in Fort Worth. That's a fun run that raises money to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. And guess what?? Cinderella was their 2014 Hero Dog, representing the approximately 20% of dogs out there who suffer from arthritis!

She did such a grreat job at the event too! Momma was super duper proud of her. Lots of people recognized her from her picture on the website and came up to them asking, "Is this Cinderella?" She's not used to being the famous one like me, so she was so surprised and happy at all the attention. There were a lot of people in fun holiday costumes, and Cinderella even got to judge the doggy costume contest! Look at some of the cool folks she met.

And guess WHAT, you guys??? She even got to meet THE BIG GUY!! And Mrs. Claus too! She was so excited she could hardly sit still. She told him that she was sorry we'd missed Santa's List Day this week, but he told her that was okay, she could just tell him her list right there. So she said, "Santa, what I really want most of all is for all my LBR cousins still in foster care to find their furever homes, and all the other homeless doggies and kittehs out there too! I've been SO good this year. And if there's a little extra room in the sleigh, I'd like some cookies that aren't too hard to chew and a nice fluffy stuffie."

Santa said that he knew Cinderella was good enough to earn ALL that and MORE, so he'd see what he could do. She was super happy with that.

PeeS:

Sadly, little Grace from our Thanksgiving Puppies went to keep her brother Squanto company at the Bridge yesterday. Squanto and Grace were the two who wouldn't nurse from the beginning. It's not unusual for big litters like this to lose one or two. But all the other pups seem healthy! Godspeed, little Grace.

Meet Mayflower's Puppies!

Are you ready to meet all eleven of Mayflower's puppies??

Furst the girrls! They were all born furst, while the boys waited for their sissies like true gentlemen. Here's Massasoit and Autumn...

Then Berries and Harvest....

And Grace and Standish!

Then the boys! We have Squash and Plymouth Rock....

Alden and Squanto. Squanto was the smallest and weakest of the litter, and sadly he went to the Rainbow Bridge last night. We have lots of LBR pups up there who will take good care of him. :(

And finally, little baby Stuffing!

Here's Mama Mayflower with her whole brood. Aren't they a beeYOUtiful family?!

PeeS:
The card count is now....
Casey & Cinderella 8
Momma 0
People who lived here 6 years ago 1

Momma says now the universe is just conspiring against her.

So many blessings!

You saw our furst two little blessings yesterday, but LBR is just OVERFLOWING with them today! Take a look...

Momma Mayflower was SO busy yesterday giving us a total of ELEVEN puppies for our family!! WOW. You could tell she had a lot of pups in that big ol' belly, but 11 is a LOT. I'll share pics of all the pups individually with their names in days to come, but I'll share that Pup #11, a boy who gallantly waited for all his siblings to go furst, is named Stuffing. 'Cause he was stuffed way up inside Mayflower! BOL!

But that's not all our blessings...

Shawnee and Cherokee turned two weeks old yesterday, and both their eyes are open! I love Cherokee (on the left) with that little spot right on the top of his head. "Plz to put kisses here." BOL. And guess what else??

OSHA is doing fangtastic and got to love all over her favorite dogtor yesterday at her checkup. It looks like her mange is finally gone, and she's almost recovered from her spay. (She had a little trouble with the stitches.) She'll finally get to start her heartworm treatment in about a month, and after she's recovered from that, she gets to look for her furever home at long last!
