Looking Back: A Barkday Perspective

Some days I like to look back and think about how far I've come thanks to LBR. A guy gets really sentimental the day before his barkday, you know? Take a look at this sorry fellow below. I wasn't even a year old, and all I'd known was the hard life. Living with a bunch of other dogs in a dirt backyard, no shade and no medical care. I had a bad case of demodetic mange (what poor Mabel has been fighting lately!) and lost most of my furs. I was hot, itchy, and so miserable. I didn't think there was any way for my life to get better.

Me in May 2007 when LBR volunteers first evaluated me

But then... someone convinced my owner to surrender me to LBR, and my whole life changed!! I went to live with a new foster family, I got all the medical care I needed, and eventually, I found my MOMMA!! She's the BEST part of my life, and she says I'm the best part of hers. Well DUH!

Me in July 2009, about seven months after Momma adopted me

And furiends, my life just keeps getting better. It hardly seems possible, but every year I just find more and more wonder and joy in this world. I still have a momma who adores me, and then there's Grandma and Grandpa, my Auntie, My Boy and Auntie Jess. The memory of my angel siblings, and the FUN of my siblings right now. There's all my pawesome furiends at Blogville, and THIS year I'll finally get to meet them in the furs at the Blogville Awesome Retreat! And every year I find new ways to help LBR help other dogs just like me. I just don't think my life can get any better -- but I've been wrong every year before, and I'm sure I'll be wrong again this year!!

Me in August 2015, as handsome as ever!

  5. Dear Casey, your picture brought tears to my eyes, but then your new pictures brought our smiles, we are so happy that you found the way home, I know your road had been full of potholes, and rocks along the way, but you eventually got there, and what a pot of gold you found. Momma said she can hardly wait for the day to come to give you all a real hug and neither can I. We love you much...........stella rose and momma
