A new year's wish

A new day and a new year is dawning. Cinderella and I would like to wish everyone a very happy New Year and a grreat 2013!

I'd like to share a wish for the New Year written by LBR's Founder and Pack Leader, Auntie Sharon:

"

My wish for 2013 is that Legacy Boxer Rescue be put out of business. Not because I don't want to run the rescue any longer, but because...

I wish to see an end to animal suffering and human cruelty. I want every boxer to have a home. To know love. To be able to show love.

I wish to stop crying, unless they're tears of joy.

I wish to rejoice, not because ONE got rescued, but because NONE need rescuing.

I wish all people could see what I see when I look into the eyes of an animal that has given up hope.

I wish people felt what I feel when I hug my senior girl who would have perished years ago if a "rescuer" hadn't given her a chance to be the amazing dog that she is.

I wish to awaken compassion in others.

I wish to share what I know and all I have learned of the human/animal bond and how utterly amazing it can be. There is truly nothing like the quiet solitude of sharing a moment with your dog. You should try it tonight.

I wish every human could open their eyes and hearts to the plight of animals in their communities. To reach out to support the people helping animals in their communities. Offer support, be it time or monetary.

I know my first wish will not become a reality in 2013, but if the final wish on this list were to come to pass, then, and only then, might we see the tides turn. We MUST be the change we wish to be in this world.

And lastly, and most of all, I wish each and every one of you a safe, prosperous and delightfully "canine" Happy New Year!"
