Pet Memorial Day

Today is the official Pet Memorial Day, so Momma and I wanted to stop to remember our beloved furry family members who have already gone to the Bridge.

Scribbles and I weren't always buddies, but we were bros. He helped Momma through the hardest times in her life, and we'll never furget him. RIP Scribbles, 6/19/15.

Cinderella was my beloved sissy. We did so much together, and she was Momma's princess. We'll never furget her smile or how she was game for absolutely anything. RIP Cinderella, 3/20/15.

Invasion!!

So there we were, innocently minding our own business...

"Do you think I should wear my red bow tie for the dance, or would Isadora prefer the orange one?"
"<sigh> This again??"

Little did we know, somewhere in the wilds of Pencil-vane-e-ah...

Meanwhile, back at home, Jessie kept interrupting my impawtant thoughts.

"It really depends on what colors she wears, doesn't it?"
"Casey, do you get the feeling that something is watching us?"

"Hush, kid, I'm thinking. Am I supposed to call her to ask?"
"No, really, something seems really WRONG right now..."

"And if I don't know her colors, how to I pick out her flowers?"
"CASEY!!!!!!!!!"

"Geez, kid, why didn't you SAY something?! BARK! Bark as if you life depended on it!!"
"How did it even GET here?!?! We don't HAVE snow in Texas! That means no snow freaks!!"
"I don't know, Jessie, but something really WRONG has to have happened!"

OMD, that snowfreak went scurrying straight out the door at our ferocious barking. I wonder where it will visit next...

And where there's snowfreaks, of course there's FRANKIE AND ERNIE!!! WELCOME back to Blogville, guys!!! We've missed you so much! Now HELP get these snow freaks back under control, or all of Blogville will be covered!!!!

An impawtant question

Hi dere, folks! This is Jessie, taking over the blog fur something very impawtant. Have you heard about the Sadie Hawkins Dance that Dory is hosting?

A Sadie Hawkins dance is where the grrls ask the guys out! That means if I want to go, I have to do the asking! How skeery. The only other dance I went to was the Rodeo Square Dance, which my big brother Casey escorted me to. He VERY reluctantly agreed that I could ask a real date this time, as long as I found a pawfect gentleman. Hmmm. Who could I find that would meet Casey's standards?

I thought and thought and thought. And THEN I got a very impawtant call from the lovely Miss Taffy. She said that she is going to be very busy taking care of her grandma for a while and won't be in Blogville. She wants Stanley to keep having a good time and go to Blogville events instead of just sitting around moping all the time.

WELL! Casey can't PAWSIBLY argue that one of the Mayorz isn't good enough for his little sister. So... with Miss Taffy's blessing...

Casey here! Wow, good choice, Jessie. I don't see how Stanley could resist you, and I KNOW he'll be a gentleman. Now, I wonder if any lovely ladies of Blogville are thinking of asking ME...

Yup, I'm available! Try to control yourself, ladies.

Congrrats, Momma!! (And welcome home!)

You may have noticed we've been real quiet for a few days. That's because Momma abandoned us all for a giant mouse for the WHOLE long weekend! Can you believes it?! You might remember back in January, Momma visited the Mouse in Florida and ran her very furst marathon. Well, the Mouse has a special challenge that if you run a half-marathon or above at BOTH his houses in one year, then you get a special medal. Momma says she's all about the bling. So this week, she jetted off to Callyfornia to run the Dumbo Double Dare.

That's the 10k on the left and the half-marathon on the right.

The Dumbo Double Dare is running a 10k on Saturday and a half-marathon on Sunday. WOW. That sounds like a lot, but it's only 19.3 miles in two days. In Florida, Momma ran a half and a full marathon, for 39.3 miles. This was a walk -- well, a run -- in the park after that. BOL!! And fur all that hard work, Momma earned the Coast to Coast medal!

Momma was very happy to get this challenge done. She visited her BFF Goofy to show off ALL her medals.

But now she's done with all that silly gallivanting around and is HOME with us. PHEW!! We missed her SO much.  We were just lost without her.

A very special Foster Friday (a little early)

I know it's not Friday, but Momma is going out of town this weekend and I had a very special story to share with y'all! This is Firenze.

Isn't he a handsome guy?? He was adopted from LBR back in 2010. A few years later, he added a brother, Major.

These two guys are the BESTEST bros. They love each other so much and can't stand to be apart. Look at them holding paws!

Well, a few weeks ago LBR got a call from another rescue in the area. Firenze and Major were with them instead of their family! WTH?!?! Apparently their "parents" moved into a new house and decided that they didn't want to risk scratching their new hardwood floors. So they just dumped the dogs!! And not even contacting us to take Firenze back, like they promise they will when they sign our adoption contract. We're just lucky the other rescue called us. Of course, we immediately took them back into an LBR foster home.

Firenze and Major were heartbroken, but they were mostly worried that they weren't going to be able to stay together. Senior dogs are harder to adopt out anyway, but two together? That would take a miracle. But they told us that they HAD to stay together because their brother was all they had left in the world.

So LBR volunteers worked and worked and worked. And THEN . . . we found the most SPECIAL adoption application. One that said they were interested in Firenze and Major . . . and that added  "we have new wood floors, but we don't care about scratches!  Scratches add character!"

So Firenze and Major went to meet these pawesome applicants, and it was LOVE at FURST SIGHT!! They were thrilled to run and play with their new mom and dad, AND they hit it off grreat with a whole NEW brother, LBR alum Clue! OMD, we couldn't have designed  a better home for them! Now they get to live out their lives in a home that loves them so very very much, that cares more about THEM that stupid stuff like FLOORS. And most impawtantly, they get to live out their lives TOGETHER!! Is there anything better?

Congrrats to Ray, Michelle, Clue, Firenze, and Major! You ALL hit the jackpot!!!

Stop wasting time, Momma!

Momma, aren't you supposed to be getting ready for work?

Yes, I know we're incredibly adorable and photogenic, but you're supposed to be in the bathroom putting on clothes and makeup and doing your hairs and stuff.

Seriously, Momma, enough with the pictures. You have to go earn kibble money!

I said GET MOVING!!

Sheesh. Humans are SO hard to train sometimes.
