The Momma here. We got the test results back, and it is cancer. I talked to the vet, and we agreed that surgery or chemo are not real options here due to Casey's age and heart condition. It would be a question of the cure being worse than the disease. The only real option we have is to start him on a course of anti-inflammatories to try to slow the spread of the disease.
I think I've reached my point of a little too much for my mind to cope with right now. I think it's going to hit me harder later, but for now I'm very numb. I'm going to focus on making Casey's time left the very best possible, however much it is. But it is VERY hard handling him and Jessie both being steps away from Death's door at the same time. :\
Oh no - this is devastating news to hear. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

We don't know what to say other than how very sorry we are. Casey is strong and loves his Momma. We know he will fight as hard as he can to have a lot of good days to come. We hate "C" so much. It is just not fair. Hugs from all of us. And still lots of POTP and prayers.

I've received the same kind of news so many times in the past and each time it's like a knife going through my heart. I know the pain you feel and I'm so sorry. Treasure each and every day and make some good memories that will always stay with you. My prayers and love to you always. Hugs to Casey and Jesse.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear this news. I've been down this road too many times. I'm praying that you'll still have many good days with Casey and Jessie. Each moment is a gift. May you have much strength and calmness of mind along the way and that all will be as easy as possible. Keep your focus on each day with them. (My tendency has been to focus too much ahead - and miss the joy of each day I have with my pet.)
