No Tricks, Just Treats for Shelters!

Today we are joining Dory and her brothers in the "No Tricks, Just Treats for Shelters" blog hop. Momma has a day jam-packed with ways to help. Furst she's going to take us for a nice long walk. Then she's going to go to the grocery store. And then she's going to snuggle on the couch with us and do a little online Christmas shopping.

...Wait a second, Casey. We're supposed to be telling people how we're helping our favorite shelter or rescue group today!

Don't be silly, Jessie. That's what we're doing! Furst, when we're going for our walk, Momma always uses the WoofTrax app from Walk for a Dog. That's a really pawesome app that tracks how far we walk and makes a donation to the rescue group we selected based on our mileage.

WOW, Casey! That's exciting! Oh wait, I know what the next one is. When Momma goes grocery shopping, she's going to go to Kroger and use her Rewards card there. You can link your rewards card to a specific charity at their website, and ours is linked to LBR. They get a check every quarter based on how much people have spent on their cards.

Finally, when Momma does her Christmas shopping online, she goes through Amazon Smile. She shops just like at regular Amazon, but she logs on at smile.amazon.cominstead. You can designate a charity to get donations based on a percentage of your purchases. With as much as Momma spends at Amazon, LBR gets a nice donation from them!

So those are our easy ways to support our favorite shelter or rescue, doing things we do all the time anyway! Our favorite rescue is, of course, Legacy Boxer Rescue. Jessie and I were both adopted from them, and we do lots of volunteer work for them. Whatever charity you support, you can use these easy ways to help get them more green papers from your ordinary activities.

Happy National Cat Day!

Today is National Cat Day, so we wanted to give Pigeon the blog for today. She's the BESTEST kitty sister any pup could ask for.

We love you, Pigeon! Enjoy your day! And Happy Cat Day to ALL my kitty furiends out there.

On duty!

You might remember I told you about the new pups in our house, Ichabod and Elvira. They've been sleeping in the garage since Momma brought them home, but they're finally awake and are going to guard our house from all the skeery monsters that have been popping up in people's yards lately!

I feel much safer with them keeping an eye on us!

Interesting morning

Hey folks, Jessie here! We gots up early this morning for some reason. I mean, I was all content to stay in bed late -- I had to potty, but I just went ahead and let it out and was going to sleep a whole lot longer. But all of a sudden Momma jumped up and started making all sorts of funny noises, then took all the sheets off the bed and started the laundry. Weird thing to do that early, know what I mean? Anyways, we went on a nice walk, then Momma decided to go BACK to sleep. We could've stayed there the whole morning, you know!! But it was nice. We didn't want her to sleep on the couch alone, so we jumped up too.

That's Casey on Momma's side, Pigeon on her chest, and me keeping her feet warm.

Momma thinks I look funny sitting like this.

So things got off to a strange start, but at least we had some nice snuggle time afterwards. Do your pawrents do weird stuff like that?

PeeS from the Momma: Jessie's kidneys are getting worse and she's having some bladder issues. I can't blame her for what happened, but EWWWWW!!!!

A very special day!

Hey folks, Jessie here! I'm taking over the blog today to make sure a VERY special event gets pawperly celebrated.

Yup, today is Casey's BARKDAY!!!!! He is NINE years old today, can you believes it?!?! He's the BESTEST big brother any girl could ask for. Right from the beginning, he was teaching me everything I needed to know.

He's the best snuggle partner too!

This is his VERY furstest picture, the night Momma met him.

Obviously it was love at furst lick!

So happy barkday, Casey!!!! We loves you!

Grrrrr

Excuse me while I rip this blue jay to shreds...

What? No reason. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the $%^()@#$ Toronto Blue Jays and my Texas Rangers...

This is just a little of what we call destructive therapy...

Goodbye, my sweetheart!

Yesterday we got the too sad news that my sweet Ciara had lost her battle to the evil seizure monster and went to the Rainbow Bridge. My heart is just broken today.

A stolen kiss at a New Year's pawty, and sweet Ciara became mine for far too short a time. We shared such lovely memories together! Intimate dinners and grand parades...

Sunset beaches and fun times...

Your time here was too short, my beautiful girl! We will never furget you. I will try to think of you running free and happy at the Rainbow Bridge, without that evil monster to plague you.

Abandoned!

You will never BELIEVE what happened to me and Jessie this week!! So on Tuesday, Momma said goodbye and left, and Jessie and I hung out in our crates as usual to wait for her to get home. But at the end of the day, it wasn't Momma who came home!!

"Um...excuse me, Auntie Jess, it's very nice to see you, but where is Momma??"

"Momma's coming home next, right?"

But NO, Momma was NOT coming home next! Auntie Jess told us that she was staying with us overnight because MOMMA abandoned us to go do some dumb work thing!!!

"How could she just abandon us like that?"

"Think very hard about your part in this."

"Auntie, will there at least be treats to compensate us for this terrible betrayal?"

"Treats? Um...Auntie Jess, have I mentioned how very pretty you're looking today?"

"Apology accepted. Let's get to bed, Auntie Jess!! I promise not to kick you completely out."

Fortunately, by the next night, Momma came back home!! PHEW! I was worried there.
