Love in a box

Wow, you'll never guess what turned up on OUR porch! It was a giant BOX!

"What could be inside?"

"Pff. Amateurs. I'll show you how to investigate a box!"

With Scribbles's help, we got the box open. And guess what it was? A fancy new ultra-comfy bed!

"Wow, we loves it!"

Turns out Momma bought it for Cinderella's room. Let's see how it fits.

"Ooh, Casey, this is so comfy! It's going to be so nice to sleep on!"

Yeah, you want to know why Momma bought it? Because she knows you need something extra comfy to rest your old bones on.

"HEY!! Who are you calling OLD?! I may only have half my teeth, but I can still bite you, you know!"

Um, er, ah -- I mean it's a super comfy princess bed, because she knows that real princesses can't handle feeling any little thing under their beds. Right. That's it.

"Hrmph. That's better. I appreciate my comfy new bed, Momma. Thanks!"

Progress of a masterpiece

Thanks to everyone for all the well-wishes on my 500th post yesterday! Lots of you asked about my pawtrait that Momma painted for me, so I thought I'd show you the development of it.

Momma went to one of those painting parties, where they teach you how to paint a painting during an afternoon. (There's usually wine involved.) Momma went to a place called Let's Art in Plano, not far from us. She painted Cinderella there about a year ago at an LBR pawty. Yesterday they were having a special "Paint Your Pooch" pawty, so she decided it was time for my masterpiece!

You start by sending them in a picture, and they turn it into a sketch on a canvas. That's me!

Then they guide you through things like mixing colors of paint and show you the order to do your painting. First the background color.

Then you sketch out the outline.

After that, it's time to start the eyes and nose. Momma had a hard time with my eyes, 'cause they're a gorgeous caramel color that she couldn't quite match.

Then you start with the main color. She thought I came out too light at first.

But then once she added my mask and the shading, and it was a lot better! The black around my eyes was really tough.

Then she needed to paint that ledge under my paws. In the original picture, my paws were lying on a bolster bed. In this one, it looks like I'm guarding a stick. Hi, Goose!

Here's the original picture and the final painting. Pretty good, huh?

Momma was very proud of her masterpiece, and I was proud of her for being such an artist.

She brought it home to show me. It was like seeing double!

Momma had just the right place for it! She hung it right at the wall by her home office, where she'll see it all the time. I think Cinderella and my pawtraits look just wonderful there!

My 500th Post!!

OMD, everyone, I can't believe that this is my 500th post! I have SO much fun posting about the pawsome folks and dogs over at Legacy Boxer Rescue, and I get to join in on all sorts of Blogville fun! Today some of my LBR pals are joining in to celebrate 500 grreat posts, and 500 x 87 more!

 Danica sez, "Happy 500th, Casey!"

LBR alum Duke is posing for all the puperazzi

Hemi's bringing the toys!

LBR alums Shankley and Homer are starting the dancing!

I see LBR alum Joe has broken out the treats!

Whoo! LBR alum Vaughan just showed up with the dancing girls, LBR foster Lorsi and LBR alum Zoe!

Uh-oh! LBR foster Pink says somebody spiked the punch!

Oh, and  guess what Momma got me to commemorate such an impawtant occasion? She painted my portrait so I can have it all ready to hang in the Blogville Hall of Fame someday. Pretty spiffy!

It's like looking in a mirror.

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive of me over the past 500 posts. I can't wait to see what the next 500 bring!

Snuggle Saturday.

Did you know that snuggles are their own language? Really! There are LOTS of different things you can say with snuggles. Here's a little language lesson from LBR.

Mama Champagne and the Winos tell Auntie Sharon, LBR's pack leader, that there's no problem puppy breath can't cure!

Danica telling LBR foster Pink that the Cone of Shame isn't that bad.

LBR foster Emmy sez, "Foster momma, can you really let me go?"

LBR fosters Sync and Secret work on keeping their momma in bed.

"This is our bed. You should sleep on the couch."

"Everything's better when you have a furiend."

And Cinderella and I say,

We'd better rest up, because tomorrow's going to be an EXCITING day! Tomorrow will be my 500th post!!!

Foster Friday: Meet June Bug!

Hi everybody! It's Friday again, and that means I get to introduce you to one of the pawsome dogs available for adoption from Legacy Boxer Rescue! Today I'd like to introduce you to the cutest little insect you'll ever meet, Miss June Bug!

"I'm the total package!"

Awww, look at how pretty she is! Miss June Bug is a 5-year-old bouncing brindle beauty. 5 is the most incredibly awesomest age -- old enough to know your manners, but young enough to still be bouncy and wiggly. (And it's MY age, so it MUST be amazing!) And boy, does June Bug know how to wiggle! Her little nub goes non-stop, and she wiggles all day long. Whee! She's all wiggles when she meets other dogs, too. June Bug is super dog-friendly and has loved everyone she meets.

"I love to snuggle with my foster brother Ocho."

June Bug is what we call a "pocket boxer", which means she's a tiny little thing. She only weighs 40 pounds! Between that and her sunny, wiggly disposition, she's grreat around kids. She loves to snuggle with her people, and especially loves it when she gets to snuggle up on the bed. Just like me! Man, this girl sounds pawfect. I know she'd love more than ANYTHING to find her furever family.

"Are you my furever family?"

So if you're interested in adding a wiggly, friendly, tiny little boxer to your home, go check out June Bug's bio page and fill out an application today!

PeeS:

This is Rocky the Boxer. He was in a fire in Houston, Texas and badly burned. He's staying at the V-E-T right now and getting treatment, but it's very expensive treatment. There are people trying to raise money to help him get the care he needs. Check out his Facebook page to get more information about him and how to help! (Be warned -- there are some really icky pictures of his treatment in progress.)

Pretty Addison

I just loves this photo collage that Addison's foster daddy made for her. She really needs the love and snuggles right now, because she's having a tough time of it! She went to the V-E-T a few days ago because she was coughing up foamy stuff. Her foster sissy had just had pneumonia, and her foster parents were worried she had it. Well, the good news was that it wasn't pneumonia. The bad news was that she had heartworms -- which we knew already, but they were LOTS worse than we thought they were. They're so bad that her heart has swollen up bigger to fit them all in there, and her lungs have had to shrink to make room for them. No wonder it's hard for her to breathe!!

Luckily Addison has LBR and foster parents who love her and will get her the care she needs. We'll have to be real careful with her heartworm treatment, because it's going to be EXTRA hard on her, but she'll pull through it. But this is why it's SO SO SO important for doggies to get heartworm preventative every single month!! If Addison hadn't ended up with LBR, she probably would've died. One simple pill a month can prevent problems like this. I know all your peeps are smart enough to already give you your pills, but make sure your friends and family know how important it is too!

Day at the dog park!

The weather was really beeYOUtiful this weekend, so Momma took me to the dog park. Oh BOY!

Furst, I sniffed around really good to get all the peemail.

Hang on, more peemail over here.

Then I started introducing myself to the locals. (See that boxer next to me? He's Oscar, my former foster brother. My foster momma Aunt Joni brought him out to play too!)

Then it was time to get down to serious business. LET'S PLAY!!

Woo! I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired.

PeeS: Congrratulations to my good buddies Dave and Zim, who have the honor of escorting Cinderella herself to the Valentine's Ball! You guys had better treat my sissy right!!

Cinderella's Request

I know everybody just wants to hear from me, 'cause I'm awesome and everything, but today I agreed to let my sissy Cinderella have the blog so she can ask a Very Impawtant Question. So.... take it away, sis!

Thanks, Casey! It's very nice of you to lets me have dis post. I'm very nervous, because I haven't done anything like this before. A lady my age doesn't have too many firsts left, after all! But... okays, dis is impawtant enough to take the risk. See... I have a confession to make.

My heart belongs to Dave and Zim from the Army of Four!! OMD, there, I said it!! They're both so strong and handsome and brave. What grrl doesn't like an army man??

So Dave and Zim, I have an impawtant question to ask you both. I thought about asking just one of you, but it didn't seem right to choose between brothers, and I likes BOTH of you. So...

Gulp.

Dave and Zim, will you go to the Valentine's Ball with me?

Please say yes!!! OMD, I's so nervous!!
