Impawtant question

Dearest Stanley,

We've been dating for a while now, and you've been such a gentleman! Even Casey can't complain. You've taken me on the most wonderful dates, and you've always treated me like a princess. I'm the luckiest girl in the world.

But I'm a modern girl, and I think it's time to treat you like a prince for a change. So dear Stanley....

Will you please join me in Paris for a Valentine's Day we'll never forget?

Yours,

Jessie!

Smells like betrayal

Momma went out this weekend, and when she came back home, she smelled like Auntie and our cousins! AND we found this on her phone!

Cousin Bebe was pretty happy to see Momma. Momma's her favorite. I bet she was running around in circles and yipping, like she does. Siiiiiiiiigh. Mean Momma. You'd better take US to see the cousins next time!

Flashback Friday

Thinking of my sweet foster sissy Tiana this week. She was the first foster we took from the ground up -- the only one we had before her was Cinderella, who had been someone else's foster first and we just took over. Tia was sweet and energetic and adorable. Even after she was adopted, her family would bring her to LBR events, and she'd FLING herself into Momma's lap and kiss her nonstop.

LBR is always there

There's one thing I've never understood about some humans. They can take us in, care for us, love us our whole lives -- and then when we need them most, at the very end, they just dump us like we don't matter. Look at this sweet girl.

She lived with one owner her whole life. She thought she was family. But now she's old and has lymphoma. It's time to help her peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge, where she can wait for her loved ones. But instead, she was DUMPED at a shelter so she'll die alone and scared and wondering where her family is!

Well, not while LBR is around!!

"Oh thank goodness, someone still loves me!"

LBR volunteers jumped into action when we heard from the shelter. One of our volunteers raced against the clock to pick her up before the shelter closed for the night. He took her to one of our foster homes, who named her Chessa and gave her all the love she could handle.

Chessa will be helped to the Rainbow Bridge in the next few days. But she'll spend her last days in love and comfort, and our volunteers will be with her every step of the way. That's the way it should be. Momma knows that it can be unspeakably difficult to be there with your beloved pet as they cross to the Bridge. She knows what it's like to cry and feel like you can never stop. But if you really love your pet, if you really think they're family, then you owe it to them to make sure they feel your love and comfort at the end of their life. That's what they deserve.

Update: Chessa had a seizure this morning and passed away in the loving arms of her foster momma. Run free at the Bridge, sweet girl!

All warmed up!

This weekend, we had a bunch of people over at the house to warm it up. I thought it was pretty warm anyway, but it was nice having so many people over to see us. Can you believe that for the first few hours, Momma abandoned us in our rooms?? It was horrible! I kept barking to remind her, but she just kept forgetting to let us out. But finally she remembered, and we got to see some of our good friends.

Like my boy, yay!! And my foster momma Aunt Joni came by. I had to give her BIG kisses.

It was a great warming!

Behind the Snuggle

If you saw my Wordless Wednesday post yesterday, you'll see I finally managed to be included in Sister Snuggle Time! Today I thought I'd show some of the behind the scenes action. I had to work hard at that!

It started as usual -- sisters snuggling, and poor brother left out over to the side.

I tried asking nicely to be included, but Pigeon told me "No boyz allowed!"

So I let them get good and comfortable and sleepy, and then I slowly started inching down. Just shifting a little in my sleep, that's all.

A little more... stretch the neck out... and success!!!

It was so nice to be included for once. Maybe they'll let me join them again sometime.

Legacy Makeover!

Take a look at this handsome guy

He was known as BIN (Boxer In Need) 18009 back then. He ended up in a shelter at age 9, when he should be relaxing in a loving home for his golden years. And worse yet, he can't walk! We think he has something called degenerative myopathy, which affects the hind end. But despite all that, he was still all smiles and scooted over to give our volunteer kisses. How could that not melt your heart?? So....

Welcome to LBR foster Boots!

Yup, all smiles even during a BAFF! He really IS the best dog! He's settling in at his new foster home, and guess what??

Now Boots has wheels! Who needs to walk when you can ride in style?? Welcome to the LBR family, Boots!

Everything's back to normal

We spent last night keeping a watchful eye on Momma while she worked on costume stuff for her Renny-sauce faire coming up. Other than the black poop, we're showing no after-effects from our weekend adventure!

Skeery day, but we're okay!

Thank you to everyone who commented from the POTP blog post. If you didn't see, Jessie and I made a little oopsie and thought the little green bar we found was a yummy treat. Jessie ate most of it, and I had a little bit. Turns out it was rat poison!! Momma FREAKED OUT and got us both to the emergency vet ASAP. That was NOT fun. They gave us something that made us throw up over and over again. That's how the vet learned that we'd both eaten some. (Momma wasn't sure.)

Anyways, the vet says we'll both be fine. Momma got us to the vet quickly enough that we could throw most of that yucky stuff up. We had to eat some activated charcoal to absorb anything that might be left in our system. It's giving us black poop! But other than that, we're going to be just fine. Momma says she lost years off her life, but I think she's just exaggerating.

Feeling left out...

You ever get that feeling that sometimes you just don't belong?

"Sorry, Casey, it's sister snuggle time!"

"Just because I'm a boy doesn't mean I can't be part of sister snuggle time!"

Our New Year's Resolutions

Here at my house, we kicked off the New Year with a bang.

It was an exciting time, that's fur sure! We loved cuddling with Momma as the ball dropped. But as we waited, Jessie and I thought a lot about what we have planned for the new year. So since it's that time, we thought we'd stare our New Year's resolutions with all of you.

My Resolutions
by Jessie!

1. Figure out where all the bunnies live in my new neighborhood so I can catch them all! Er, so we can be friends, of course, Momma.

2. Learn to operate the can opener. Momma's too stingy on the canned food!

3. Break my record of time spent basking in the sun.

4. Find a way to visit Utah so I can see my man in the furs.

5. Live every day to the fullest!

2018 Resolutions
by Casey

1. Find the perfect napping spot in the new house. I've been doing a lot of exhaustive testing and found some good spots, but the perfect one is still out there!

2. Convince Momma that being in my golden years means I get DOUBLE the treats Jessie does.

3. Get Pigeon to play with me the way she does with Jessie.

4. Spend every moment of every day loving my momma as hard as I can.

5. Peanut butter for every meal!

So furiends...what are YOUR resolutions for this year?
