Christmas Miracle in progress

But it needs your help! See, just after Christmas, LBR heard about a family in desperate need of help. Could you say no to this face?

Her name is Noel. She ended up in a shelter at Christmas with her five four-week-old pups! That's no way to spend Christmas. So LBR sprang into action to give her a Christmas miracle. Meet the family! First, the boys, Blitzen and Frankincense.

And then their sweet sisters! Joy, Snowball, and Vixen.

What a grreat Christmas miracle, huh? Well, unfortunately, their happily ever after is in jeopardy. See, one by one the pups have been rushed to the dogtor, and all five of them are being treated for parvo. :(  Momma Noel is very skeered for her babies. We promised her we'd take very good care of them.

So how can you help? These babies need the power of the paw something fierce! Please flood them with all the good wishes you can manage, because they need every bit they can get. And if you can spare any green papers to donate, that would be really pawesome too. It costs $1,000 - 1,500 to treat one pup for parvo, and we've got five! :(  (If you want to make sure your donation goes straight to the pups, select Other Amount and put "For Noel's Pups" or something like that in the "item description" field. You can also Paypal directly to info@savetheboxers.com.) Please spread the word and help our Christmas family find their miracle!

Update: We lost poor little Blitzen. His little body just couldn't keep fighting. :(  Run free and strong at the Bridge, buddy.

Christmas Update

Momma said to thank everyone for all the well wishes. She's still pretending to be a roof, but she's feeling a lot better. She even made it back to work at last. Her big concern is that she's running a big race on Wednesday, and she's hoping she'll be okay to do it. I know she can!

Since I didn't have a chance to tell you earlier, let me tell you all about my CHRISTMAS!! Santa Paws came, and even BETTER, Grandma came! We got lots and lots of toys. But furst, we had to pose for the traditional picture with Momma. We wore our Christmas outfits without complaint and everything!

Then we got to open our furst present. Momma always insists we get to open one of our furst, before ANYONE else. She's so grreat! This year, it was bully sticks. Om nom nom! I got so busy with this, I didn't pay any attention to what Momma and everyone was up to for a while.

Cinderella lost interest in hers and went to take a nap. She didn't even take off her dress first!

We finally got to open the rest of our presents, and OMD, what a haul!! I didn't want to pose before we could start playing. Do you see that pawsome frog right by my back paw?? I LOVE him. He's from Grandma, and I've been carrying him around ever since.

Cinderella couldn't even decide what to play with furst!

I hope your Christmas was as good as ours!

Oh, and the Christmas card contest is almost over. We'll give it a few more days for the last stragglers to come in, but the totals stand at:

Family cards - 3
People who moved 5 years ago - 5
Momma - 10
Casey & Cinderella - 39

                                 Mine = Awesome                                     Momma's = Pathetic!!

Nurse Casey back on duty!

So Momma has decided to pretend to be a roof. I don't really understand, but she said something about having shingles. It's one of those weird human things, I guess. But she's hurting a lot and has spent the past three or four days laying on the couch, loopy from pain meds. So that means Nurse Casey is back on duty.

This time, I even had to bring in some extra help. Scribbles and I are taking shifts!

Hopefully Momma will be feeling better soon and be back in form soon. Until then, I'll be a little quiet commenting on your blogs.

Happy Boxing Day!

It's a very special day for all of us at LBR -- it's OUR day, the day after Christmas, Boxer Day!  I hope you all get to celebrate it in proper boxer style.

All wapped up!

Yesterday was a busy day for me and Momma! We spent our morning at Barnes & Noble. The nice folks there have different charities come in and do gift wrapping for their customers. Momma did the wrapping, and I worked my charm to bring in LOTS of donations.

Ready to wrap with my crew!

It's always fun to wrap and meet people. This year we did a really grreat job. There were people coming by ALL morning!

And let me tell you, it was exhausting being that adorable!

But it was all for a grreat cause! In just three hours, we raised $242.12 for LBR! Woohoo! That's going to buy a nice Christmas for some LBR dogs. Woof!

Celebrating

Thanks, everybuddy, for all the good wishes on my adoptiversary on Friday! I TOLD you it was a pretty pawesome Friday the 13th. Some folks asked what we did to celebrate, so I thought I'd share. Usually we don't do a lot for my Gotcha Day, since it's near Christmas. We celebrate birthdays instead. But Momma said that FIVE is a pretty durned impawtant one, and I totally agree with her. So yesterday we celebrated.

Where first, Momma?

Well, Momma and I decided that on a Gotcha Day, it's especially impawtant to remember all the less-fortunate pups and kitties out there that haven't found their furever homes yet. So I dressed up in my Casey Claus outfit and made a special visit to our local shelter with a big basket of goodies!

LBR volunteers always bring thank-you baskets to shelter and vet workers this time of year to thank them for all their hard work helping LBR pups. So I helped Momma make her delivery. Obviously the staff was more thrilled to see me than the goodies!

And guess WHAT?! There was another extra special visitor there when we arrived! I jumped right up in his lap and gave him lots of kisses.

Boy! I don't know how my day could get much more special than that. But you know what? It DID! Momma took me to Petsmart to pick out a special treat. (I'll show you later.) I also helped her finish her Christmas shopping for Cinderella, the kitties, my cousin Bear, and my aunt Gracie. And you know who we saw there too??

Santa was just running all over the place! I didn't take long, since I knew he was super busy, but Momma loves to get her pictures. Santa even told Momma he's never seen a dog pose so easily. I figured he wasn't counting me crawling all in his lap at the shelter because he knew we were visiting instead of posing then. What a grreat guy!

You might think that was it, but NO. Momma had one more surprise for me.

Cheeeeeeeeseburger!!

Phew! After all of that, I was happy to get home and try out my new treat. When we were at Petsmart, I picked out a brand new bed for my room. Cinderella usually gets the nice new beds, 'cause she's old and stuff, but this one is MINE! It's soft and cozy and I loves it.

What a grrreat Gotcha Day. I bet in another five years, we'll have even MORE of a pawesome celebration. 10 years sounds pretty grreat, huh?
