I know it's not Friday, but Momma is going out of town this weekend and I had a very special story to share with y'all! This is Firenze.
Isn't he a handsome guy?? He was adopted from LBR back in 2010. A few years later, he added a brother, Major.
These two guys are the BESTEST bros. They love each other so much and can't stand to be apart. Look at them holding paws!
Well, a few weeks ago LBR got a call from another rescue in the area. Firenze and Major were with them instead of their family! WTH?!?! Apparently their "parents" moved into a new house and decided that they didn't want to risk scratching their new hardwood floors. So they just dumped the dogs!! And not even contacting us to take Firenze back, like they promise they will when they sign our adoption contract. We're just lucky the other rescue called us. Of course, we immediately took them back into an LBR foster home.
Firenze and Major were heartbroken, but they were mostly worried that they weren't going to be able to stay together. Senior dogs are harder to adopt out anyway, but two together? That would take a miracle. But they told us that they HAD to stay together because their brother was all they had left in the world.
So LBR volunteers worked and worked and worked. And THEN . . . we found the most SPECIAL adoption application. One that said they were interested in Firenze and Major . . . and that added "we have new wood floors, but we don't care about scratches! Scratches add character!"
So Firenze and Major went to meet these pawesome applicants, and it was LOVE at FURST SIGHT!! They were thrilled to run and play with their new mom and dad, AND they hit it off grreat with a whole NEW brother, LBR alum Clue! OMD, we couldn't have designed a better home for them! Now they get to live out their lives in a home that loves them so very very much, that cares more about THEM that stupid stuff like FLOORS. And most impawtantly, they get to live out their lives TOGETHER!! Is there anything better?
Congrrats to Ray, Michelle, Clue, Firenze, and Major! You ALL hit the jackpot!!!
So glad they will be able to stay together and found a new wonderful forever home!
ReplyDeleteI cried while reading your post... first because I brokes my heart as I heard that a hardwood floor is more important than Firenze and Major and later I cried with joy that THE MIRACLE relly happened for this two pawsome brothers... First we had tears, and then we jumped up and cheered. Mom says we scratch her floors all the time, but we love her and she loves us, she would never give us up because of that reason. How sad. We are glad they found a great home together!!!

I will never understand how you can love something and be selfish. Love is never selfish! I am glad they found a home that had enough love for both of them.
ReplyDeleteAroo to you,
Sully
So glad they got a new home! And dumping your dogs over floors??? Some people don't deserve dogs.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful adoption story! We love those happy endings!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
What a great Story.
ReplyDeleteAbout the cabins for the BAR. For questions about the dog issue, it says one dog but some say ttat you can contact the owner with questions.
They may allow more than one once you talk to them but may need another dog deposit down. its worth checking out.

Mum said that years ago when she lived in New Jersey, the couple across the hall had 2 beautiful white cats (she cannot remember the breed), anyway, the couple bought new black furniture. A few weeks later, mum saw the lady neighbor on the way to work, and asked about the cats. The lady neighbor said they got rid of them because the cat hair showed up too much on the black furniture!!!! Mum said she thought to herself, if they would get rid of cats they'd had for quite a while cos of their hair on the furniture, what were they going to do if they had a baby who threw up on the furniture!!!!

The older our Mama gets, the stranger she finds people. Who cares about hardwood floors?! And don't scratches and wear and tear simply add to their beauty? We are so happy a new, loving family stepped up for these two deserving boys. It could have been a far sadder ending if wonderful and glorious Michelle, Ray and Clue hadn't stepped up! :)
