I'm BACK!!

Did y'all miss me?? I had a grreat time at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and Momma said she had a pretty good time on her vay-cay-shun. (She keeps muttering stuff about sun and beaches now.) I'm sorry I'm a little delayed in getting back, but you might've heard of a little something keeping us busy.

Icemageddon struck! Now, before you northerners start making fun of us, you should know that Texas is just not equipped for dealing with ice and snow. Nobody has snow tires, and we don't really have any sand or salt trucks either. When it's icy, some guys go out and shovel sand out of the back of a pickup truck. So it hits us a lot harder than you, because you're prepared for it!

Momma grumbles a lot (more of that sun and beach stuff), but Cinderella and I still did our duty to make sure she got exercise. It was treacherous going for a while.

My job was to go on ahead and test out the sidewalk. If I started slipping, then Momma knew to walk a different path. Cinderella kept up rearguard to make sure we were all okay.

Sadly, we had one big casualty from the ice. The big, beautiful pear tree in our front yard went CRACK!

We have tree guys coming out today to clear away the big broken part and see if the rest of the tree can be saved. Yuck! I'm going to miss that guy.

But Icemageddon aside, the impawtant thing is that I'm BACK!!! I'll have the full Christmas card count tomorrow, but let me tell you, Momma hasn't even gotten ONE card yet. BOL!! Ours will go out sometime this week, I promise. We're a little busy here. (Oh, and Frankie and Ernie, did you know your momma is forging your signatures? I know you two would NEVER send out a snowfreak card!!!)

  1. I am glad you are back Casey and that you and your whole family are safe. That tree really cracked didn't it. We missed the ice and just got a few inches of snow...here in Iowa it was no big deal. Ice is very dangerous tho and we have seen rows and rows of telephone poles snapped in half one year from the ice. My momma said to tell you when they were stationed in Fort Bliss one year it actually snowed enuf her and her girls could make a snowman, then they went into the house and the next hour it was gone! People were freaking out!

  3. I so totally know what you mean about those Northerners teasing us temperate climate folk about the weather. But we live in these parts (you in TX me in CA) for a reason - so we don't have to deal with snow and ice. It has been freezing in my neighborhood with a lot of ice and stuff. I do not like it at all.
    Glad you are back.

  4. Glad you are back Casey! We got snow and then below zero temps so it is no fun to play in the snow. That is kinda scary that your tree cracked. Hopefully no damage to anything other than the tree.

  5. OMD you are BACK and SAFE... with the EXCEPTION of your Pear Tree. Hope no partridges were in it when THAT happened.
Now about our Cards... SADLY.... those ARE our PAWtographs... it is just that MOM REFUSES to BUY anythingy Except SnowFreak Cards... so it was either THOSE or NOTHING and we couldn't have THAT.. so we WHINED and WHIMPERED and Suffered through... and the WORST is that we hear from Mayoress Madi... that the card we sent HER came to LIFE and tried to Take OVER her house.
BUTT we digress.... We have been so worried about all the snow that you all have had... we KNOW that you are NOT used to it... butt even HERE where we are SUPPOSED to be... there was NO SCHOOL on Friday Two Hour Delays Yesterday... and NO SCHOOL again TODAY... Snow and ESPECIALLY ICE is very much Dangerours and Deadly... and we (YOUR BLOGVILLE FURENDS) would NEVER EVER make fun of you fur being Careful and Worried and stuffs... WE understand that SnowFreaks are the ONLY ones who are NOT SCARED of Snow and ICE...
We are just glad that you are SAFE and being CAREFUL on your walks and stuffs.
Now about those BEACHES... did you know that beaches have CHILDREN? Butt they seem to all be BOYS..... beclaws we keep hearing about them from OUR MOM... Just this morning she looked out at the THREE NEW INCHES of SNOW and started Screaming about the Sons of Beaches. We think they MIGHT be a fraternal organization... like the Elks or the Eagles or the Moose... who all have Lodges. BUTT we MAY be wrong about all of this.
The one thingy We ARE right about is that we are GLAD you are BACK.

  8. Wow, I'm so glad you're back, Casey! OMD that ice sounds bad. I had a little here in my territory, but nothing like what you had. I hope you get some warmer weather soon. I'm so sorry you lost part of your pear tree and I hope it can be saved...don't we need one birdie in it for Christmas?!?

  10. Ice on the trees is very pretty, but oh so treacherous at the same time. Mom was glad our human brother made it out of the Dallas area before the storms hit. He works there during the week and flies home to LA for the weekend. We heard it was still a problem getting back there on Monday. HOpe the sun comes out and melts away that ice. Poor pear tree.

  11. Sooo glad your back you have been missed. Mom has a sister and a co-worker that live in your town and they just got their internet back on last night. The back roads here are still iced over and the Grayson County schools have not started back yet. Stay safe and warm.

    Aroo to you,
    Sully

  12. Welcome back! We hope that pear tree survives and grows big and strong! We understand about the cold and snow...we have the same problem in Vancouver (Canada)...no one is ever really equipped for it and then it disappears pretty quickly after it arrives!
