You know that song "Sisters, sisters, there were never such a pair of sisters!"? Pigeon and Jessie have decided it's their theme song lately, BOL. Remember Pigeon is the kitty who spent TWO YEARS hiding from me on top of the kitchen cabinets.

Now she and Jessie snuggle and even better, PLAY with each other!!

"Hey sis, be cool! Momma's watching."

Happy BOXER Day!!!

Hello, folks! Furst of all, Jessie and I would like to take a moment to wish everyone a very happy BOXingER Day! Yes, that wonderful day of the year where it's all about US, your lovable boxers!

So now onto our Christmas report! It was sure a grreat time with Grandma and Grandpa and Momma. I got so excited to see Grandpa!!! Um... a little TOO excited.

What's that on my ankle, you say? Um, a bag of frozen peas. I kinda of took a hard spill jumping off the couch to greet Grandpa. We thought I was okay at furst, but a few hours later my ankle was really swollen and I was limping badly. Oops. But Momma gave me some anti-inflammatories (we keep it for when my arthritis flares up) and iced it regularly. As of this morning, I'm not limping anymore!

Little mishaps aside, it was a really wonderful Christmas. Momma and Grandma and Grandpa had chili and cornbread on Christmas Eve, then after the grandpawrents left, we settled in as a family to watch A Christmas Carol before going to bed.

In the morning, it was CHRISTMAS!!! Santa paws knew how grreat we were this year and gave us lots of pressies. You can't see real well in this pic, but Jessie and I were very enthusiastically sharing the same bone. And Pigeon got a whole can of tuna to herself!

Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Gracie were there too. Gracie has only been here once before -- we usually go to her house, and she was SCARED of Pigeon. Not the big doggies more than twice her size, but the kitty her same size! Grandma said a mean ol' cat attacked her once. It was kinda funny to see.

We spent the rest of the day playing with our toys. Jessie got a cool new alligator, but she just cared about her bone. And look at my giraffe!

By the time dinner came around, Jessie and I just conked out under the table. I was too tired to even hope for scraps!

We hope you all had a totally pawesome Christmas too, and enjoy your BOXER DAY!

Momma keeps trying

Momma is very proud that she's ALMOST not being completely massacred in the cards this year.

That would be 24 fur us...

And 11 for Momma.

But Casey, we still have lots and LOTS more cards than her! How can she think she's winning when she's losing??

Just give Momma her moment, Jessie. She has to take whatever she can get. BOL!

LBR pulls together!

Some days make me super proud to be an official LBR volunteer. This weekend, a big cold front swept through Texas. It dropped from a high of nearly 70 degrees in the early afternoon on Saturday to the 20s just a few hours later. Everyone was preparing to bundle up and cozy in for the night. But then we got the call.

LBR alum Thor (on the left) and LBR foster Hudson were lost!! Thor has a pacemaker and has been having all sorts of health issues lately, and Hudson has neurological issues. Picturing of the two of them out alone, much less in our frigid temps yesterday, was heartbreaking.

So LBR volunteers jumped into actions! They bundled up and started combing the area for our lost pups. We searched until it got too dark on Saturday, then were back in action as soon as it got light on Sunday. Volunteers too far to make it in person were making phone calls to shelters and posting on websites. And then...

First Thor was found in a field, and he ran straight to his daddy when called. Then a short while later, they found Hudson hiding under a hot tub! They were both safe and none the worse for wear after their adventures.

BIG BIG thanks to all our pawesome LBR volunteers who worked tirelessly through the cold to help bring these two home safe! I'm proud to be part of you!

Santa Casey hard at work!

Yesterday Momma and I did one of my favorite Christmas traditions!

We went to a local Barnes & Noble to raise money for LBR. Momma and another volunteer, Miss Hannah, wrapped presents, and I brought everyone in with the charm. It was hard work, I'll tell you, but it's worth it to collect donations for my LBR cousins. A lot of folks come over to pet me and then give a donation, without even having anything wrapped. Yup, that's the Casey Charm! We worked for just four hours and raised $177!

How do you help our less fortunate cousins on Christmas?

Throwback Thursday: Star Wars edition!

Momma is all excited, because she's going to see the midnight release of ROGUE ONE, the new Star Wars movie, tonight! So I thought I'd break out some of our old Howl-o-ween costumes to make her happy.

I think Darth Casey and Artoo Jesstoo should be in the next movie, don't you?

25 Day of Holiday Fun!

Hello, folks! Today is my day in the Howliday Traditions blog hop. I claimed today because something VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY impawtant happened on this day that changed my howlidays furever!

Yup, folks, EIGHT years ago today, I became a FUREVER dog when I was adopted by my momma! It was the bestest Christmas miracle anypup could hope for. And do you know one way I knew I was home right away?

Yup, that's my very own stocking hanging at the end, next to the kitties'. I knew this was going to be my home furever and ever, and Santa Paws would know right were to find me! And guess what I saw hanging on the tree?

Yup, my own ornament too! All of us have our very own ornaments on the tree that come out every single year.

Pigeon's and Jessie's ornaments

The angels have their ornaments too!

In loving memory of Cinderella and Scribbles

Over the years, not much has changed. We still have our stockings hung with care. (Though they've changed a little bit.)

Momma still puts silly things on my head, but I put up with it because I love her . . . and because Santa Paws is watching!

Happy howlidays, everyone!

A very good girl

Here I am, practicing my "I have been a VERY good girl" look for Santa. Think he'll buy it?

The card massacre continues, though Momma is holding out this year. She has one more card she very gleefully added yesterday that we don't have a picture of yet. So the total is:

                          Momma 5                                                        Us 15

Furiends, it's gotten COLD here! It may not be that cold to you Northern doggies, but to us Texas pups, we're shivering.

I'm going to bundle up and stay warm today.

Sheesh, cheating already!

Can you believes that Momma is already CHEATING in the Christmas card count?? This is Momma's measly haul -- only two.

But here's where the cheating comes in. See the card on the right? Look familiar? Yup, that's a MR CHEWY card! Mr Chewy sent MOMMA a Christmas card instead of US because she whined and cried so much!!! We told her it was OBVIOUSLY meant for us, but she said it only had HER name on it and it was going in HER card count. Sheeesh.

But whatevs. Even cheating, she's LOSING! Jessie, Pigeon, and I have EIGHT cards already!

Blogville Emergency Drill -- Fire alarm!

Attention, Blogville! This is Emergency Services Manager Casey calling a Blogville Emergency Drill! Today's theme is FIRE SAFETY!

Do you know how to stay safe if there is a fire in your home? The first step, of course, is PREVENTION. Tell your peeps not to keep any open flames, like candles, where you might knock it over or knock something flammable into it. Your peeps should also check their stove knobs, so you (especially the kitty variety) can't accidentally turn on the stove and catch something on fire.

Step two is HAVE  A PLAN. Talk to your peeps about what will happen in a fire. Make sure if there are lots of people in the house, there is someone designated to get you guys to safety, so everyone isn't thinking someone else is handling it. Keep extra leashes located near the door (or near your kennels if you're crated during the day like we are) to make sure it's easy to help you get out. Make your peeps practice getting out (and getting YOU out!), including knowing what to do if the main exit is blocked.

Step three is HELP THE PROFESSIONALS. You want to make sure to help the fire fighters help you if there is a fire. Monitored smoke alarms -- the kind that don't just make noise at home, they send a signal to somebody to call for help -- are very helpful if you are home alone during the day. Also, there are decals you can put near your doors so the fire fighters know what pets are around that will need help. You can get them at Amazon or any pet store.

So there it is. Remember PREVENTION, HAVE A PLAN, and HELP THE PROFESSIONALS! Talk to your peeps about all these steps, and practice your escape plan. Fire safety is no laughing matter!

This is the end of your Blogville Emergency Drill. Thank you!
