Foster Friday Hellooooooooo!

Hello? Hello? Is this thing on???

The signal's a little fuzzy... hang on, let me try wiggling this thingy over here...

Can you hears me now? Everything okay? PHEW!! This blogging stuff is hard work!

Hellos everyone, it's me, Jessie! (aka LBR foster Jessalyn) Casey pawmised I could blog today for Foster Friday. It's my very firstsest blog post, so I'm all nervous that I'm going to do something wrong or look silly or whatever.

"Be sure to get my good side, Momma!"

So... I think I'm supposed to tell you all about me and life here with Foster Momma and Casey and the kitties. Oh my goodness. I just don't know if I can really explain how amazing it is here!! I mean, I was at that shelter for what felt like FUREVER. They were talking about running out of space, and I was getting skeered of what that meant for ME. Luckily, one of my aunties from LBR came to get me, and she said it's nothing but the good life for me from here on out!

 "Yup, I've got it ruff."

I'm still settling in here and letting Momma learn more about me. I know I have to go through treatment to get some nasty wormies out of my heart. THAT doesn't sound like fun. And I have to have surgery so I won't ever have to have puppies too. Foster Momma says it'll be late summer before I start looking for another home. I kinda like it here, though... maybe I can convince her that I don't need another home? Hmm. I'll talk to Casey about that. He knows EVERYTHING. He's the bestest foster brother anyone could ask for. Maybe you have some suggestions for me? I've never looked for a furever home before!

Our big surprise!

Furst off, thank you to everyone who commented on our late post yesterday about my kitty brother Scribbles. Momma and I are going to love him very much for the time he has left. But today we're not thinking anything sad! Today is the big reveal!! Last week, I told you we had a BIG SURPRISE and gave you one clue:

Did you guess? Well, let me tell you a little story. Last week, Momma was reading through LBR emails when she saw the list of urgent BINs -- Boxers In Need of foster homes that were about to be put down in their shelter. And she saw one labeled BIN 15302.

Momma looked in her eyes and said, "She needs us." We had been planning on fostering again after Momma's Renny-sauce faire was over, and here was someone Momma just KNEW was sent by Cinderella. So she said she would take her if someone else could babysit her for a week until her faire stuff was over with. And just like that...

Ta-da!! She broke out of the shelter and hung her leash with an LBR volunteer for a few days until we were ready for her. She was so scared and shy and timid in her temp home. Her official name is LBR foster Jessalyn, but Momma and I are calling her Jessie after the sassy cowgirl from Toy Story. We figure Jessie needs that kind of spunk!

Well, last night was the big day. (And Momma said it was a welcome distraction from Bad News.) She picked up Jessie from her temporary foster home and brought her to meet me.

"Do I get to meet my new foster brother now?"

Jessie wasn't shy and timid with Momma. She was happy and bounced all around the car. And boy does she give grreat kisses!! Momma brought her home and let her out in the backyard for a quick sniff. And Jessie said WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She had so much fun zooming around the backyard! So Momma brought me out for our introductory sniff. And in NO time, we were running around after each other, play bowing, and having lots of fun!

Momma decided that a little getting-to-know-you walk was in order, so we geared up and headed out around the neighborhood. I showed Jessie all the best places for pee mail.

She walked beeYOUtifully on her leash, and we were acting like old furiends!

Her only problem is that she can't control her licker -- Momma had her face washed about a gazillion times yesterday!

I think it's something we're willing to live with. :)

So stay tuned for the continuing adventures of my new foster sissy! She needs heartworm treatment, so she'll be with us for a while before she's ready to start looking for her forever home. Once she's settled in, I'll let her kick off Foster Friday again!

Bad news :(

I don't want to mar my surprise post tomorrow with bad news, so here it is now. Scribbles's test results are in, and his nasty lumpie is cancer. When the vet uses words like "invasive" and "aggressive" to describe it, it's not a good sign. :(  Momma isn't sure what to do now, so I'm going to give her lots of snuggles and help her out a lot with our big surprise to hope she feels better.

Rain, rain, GO AWAY!!!

Goodness, furiends! Texas is about to get swept off into the Gulf of Mexico any day now. We're FLOATING in all this rain rain rain! So far there's been lots of skeery storms and flooding in my general area, but nothing directly threatening me and Momma for now. And all the LBR dogs I know of are safe and sound too. Let's keep all our paws crossed that that continues. It's supposed to rain every day for the rest of this week still, but next week they say we're supposed to get some sun. I hope so! Until then, or until I see the ark floating by, I'm getting ready for the worst!

At least I have my big surprise tomorrow to give me something to look forward to! Have you figured it out yet?

We're okay!

No time for a full post, but Momma, the kitties, and I are all OKAY in our kerazy Texas storms. We haven't had any damage or flooding at our place. Momma and I were down at Auntie Amanda's this weekend for the end of Momma's Renny-sauce Faire. That got a little hairy! They had to close three hours early yesterday, their final day, and run like kerazy for shelter from the bad storms approaching. That made her skeered but sad that she didn't get to finish things off okay. But we hunkered down at Auntie Amanda's, and we're all okay.

Don't furget our big surprise on Thursday!!!!

Pink is his color

Scribbles is NOT happy with Momma, is he? BOL!! Momma noticed him licking at his stitches, and she didn't want to put him in the cone of shame because that made it hard for him to eat. So she pulled on one of Cinderella's old t-shirts instead. Ooooh, if looks could kill!

A surprise is coming!

It'll be a totally pawesome one too. :D I will reveal it to all of you next Thursday, May 28th! Until then, this is the only hint you get...

Let's see who can guess!

Oh, and thank you ALL for the amazing POTP you've been sending for Scribbles. He's doing well after his surgery and is even behaving with his stitches, so he doesn't have to wear the Cone of Shame yet. He said to tell everyone thank you! We're all waiting patiently until next week to get his test results.

Chicks dig scars

I've been reassuring Scribbles that chicks dig scars. His is super manly and tough, don't you think?

The vet removed the nasty lumpie and sent it off to be tested. Because of the holiday next week, it'll probably be late in the week before we hear anything. The vet is pretty sure she wasn't able to get it all, too, because of how it was placed. :(  So right now we're just waiting to find out what it is, then we'll figure out a plan of attack.

Thank you for all your POTP this past week!

Good luck, buddy! With a good update!

So this morning I was hanging out with Momma this morning, just chillin'.

My kitty brother Scribbles came over for a chat, which is weird because he doesn't do that much.

But he told me he was a little worried about going to the dogtor for surgery this morning. I just listened, because sometimes the most impawtant thing you can do to someone who is worried is listen to them.

But I did give him one very impawtant piece of advice. I told him that whenever I'm feeling sad, I just remember that Momma loves me and will always take care of me. He said that made him feel much better!

Please cross your paws for Scribbles this morning as he goes through his surgery. Hopefully we'll be able to remove the nasty lumpie and figure out what's made him lose so much weight. Good luck, brother!

Pupdate: Momma just got a call from the dogtor, and Scribbles is out of surgery! They were able to fit him in early, so we got the call he was out before we even though he'd be in surgery! Momma will talk to the vet when she picks him up this afternoon, and they'll send the lump out for testing. But good news so far!

Another Scribbles update

The test results are in, and it's good news and bad news. The good: results look pretty normal, with just a few minor problems expected in a cat his age. No impediment to surgery. The bad: that means there's no explanation for his weight loss. :(

Scribbles will be having surgery to (hopefully) remove the lump on Monday. Please keep him in your thoughts until then!

Update on Scribbles

My kitty brother Scribbles went to the vet yesterday to talk about a nasty lumpie Momma suddenly noticed on his side. The vet loves all of us (well, mostly me!) and fit them in very quick for an appointment. She felt at the lump for about two seconds before saying, "Oh yeah, that's gotta come off." Uh-oh!

But the news got even worse. When they weighed Scribbles at the start of the checkup, he was only 12.5lbs. He's usually 16-17lbs! That means he lost a quarter of his body weight. That's not good at all! The vet was super worried about that, and she drew some blood and stuff to test. The test results are supposed to be in tonight, and hopefully they'll shed some light on the reason for the weight loss. (It could be something like a thyroid problem or kidney issues.) But as long as they don't show anything that would make it bad for him to go under anesthesia (a worry with a 17-year-old cat), he'll have surgery ASAP to remove the nasty lumpie. After that, the worry will be whether the vet is able to remove the whole thing and what the biopsy shows it is. The weight loss could also be because the lumpie is cancer and it's spread a lot. :(

Thank you for all the POTP you've sent his way. Please keep it up a little longer.

Paws crossed for Scribbles

Momma is worried sick this morning. Last night she was petting my kitty brother Scribbles and found a huge lump on his side. She is talking to the vet furst thing this morning to get him checked out.

Scribbles is almost 17 years old and has lived with Momma for nearly 15 years. He was her furst pet ever on her own, and he's been with her through thick and thin. He's not very nice to ME, but I hope for Momma's sake that this isn't anything serious. :(  If you could send some Power of the Paw his way, we'd sure appreciate it!

PeeS: I also just heard that my good furiend Goose made his journey to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. Momma and I are just devastated. He was one of my furst good furiends on Blogville, and I loved hearing about his adventures so much. I am going to rescue some sticks today in his honor. Safe journeys, my furiend.

One cause Goose and his MOM were passionate about was St. Anne's Lantern House, a homeless center with a pet area that allowed homeless people to keep their beloved pets with them. Goose has done a lot of fund raising on their behalf for this grreat cause. Momma and I remember how touched we were at all the people who donated to LBR in Cinderella's memory after she passed. So we made a donation today to the Lantern House Pet Area in loving memory of Goose. I encourage anyone who wants to honor Goose's life and legacy to do the same.

Send a life raft!

Good grief, furiends! It's getting kerazy around here. Texas has been in a drought pretty much since I've been alive, but this spring we're getting insane amounts of rain. And in Texas, that usually comes with nasty storms. This weekend we were getting pounded by all sorts of flash floods, high winds, hail, and tornadoes! I told Momma to batten down the hatches, I was hiding out the whole weekend!!

Me snuggled up with Momma and my cousin Bebe at Auntie Amanda's

I was kinda worried about Momma, because she was out at her Renny-sauce Faire all weekend, and there's no real shelter there. They had some skeery moments and actually closed a little early on Sunday because of storms coming through. Yikes! I hope this weird weather blows through soon and we have some NICE weather!

Throwback Thursday

This Throwback Thursday, I'm sharing one of my favorite pics of me with my sissy Cinderella and sweet Miss Jewell, who was an LBR foster dog staying with us for a few dogs. Weren't we all comfy and cozy looking? I was sure happy to be with such pretty ladies!

What a day!

OMD, furiends, I had the BESTEST day yesterday with my momma! You saw that she finally agreed with me about celebrating Stay Home and Cuddle Your Dog Day. And WOW, did we have fun!! Furst we slept late and snuggled on the couch for a while.

Then we watched Avengers and Captain America 2! Cap is my favoritest superhero. I was enthralled.

Then, of course, Momma and I went out on an extra-long walk. It was pawesome!!

We had so much fun on our day together!! I loves my momma.
